Services

At Advocating for You we offer our expertise in the following areas:

Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):

For parents of children with special education needs, we offer consultation and support in attending meetings with school officials. We meet with parents in advance to plan for the upcoming school meeting, gaining an understanding of the child’s background. Sometimes it can be hard for parents to speak out when they are in an emotional state regarding their child. Advocating for You is that third party support that can speak up in a way that will get your feelings heard. We are familiar with the special education system, and will get your needs heard in a kind and professional manner.

Medical Advocacy:

Advocating for You uses our experience in the medical industry to help those who may not be able to help themselves. We know how to work with medical professionals, while providing support and assertive communication for your loved one. This is especially helpful when family members do not live close to the one in need. We assist in contacting the medical team in the hospital, working through the medical research for suggestions on alternative care. This can be an emotional time, so it helps to have a liaison or intermediary to assist in understanding medical records and dealing with hospital staff.

Grant Writing:

Writing grants for your non-profit can be daunting and time consuming. Advocating for You offers grant writing services for your non-profit. Let us use our experience with the grant writing process to support your non-profit in its money raising goals.

To Whom It May Concern;

This letter is written to recognize Rebecca Provinse as an unparalleled advocate for students with disabilities. I have worked as her son’s classroom teacher for the past three and one half years during which time she has partnered with both me and our classroom related service providers. She has facilitated collaborative practices as well as provided learning opportunities to help all stakeholders achieve student success.

Rebecca seeks opportunities to maximize the effectiveness of IEP meetings. She works together with the school staff to prepare the IEP meeting agenda and ensures that the school staff is presented opportunities to learn more about how her son learns and demonstrates his learning. She has provided suggestions for staff including teacher and related service provider daily student feedback form. Additionally she has facilitated learning opportunities for paraprofessional staff to become familiar with student equipment and ways to engage and maximize student participation.

I highly recommend Rebecca as a student and family advocate. She has provided meaningful teacher and student support and guidance.

Sincerely,

Deborah DiRisio, Education Administration
Teacher, Parkway West High School
